Ohio Dominican University is a private four-year liberal arts institution, founded in 1911 in the Catholic and Dominican traditions. The main campus spans over 72 acres (290,000 m2) in the North Central neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio, United States. The university has just over 3,100 students and offers undergraduate degrees in over 50 majors as well as six graduate degree programs. Ohio Dominican uses a student-centered approach, with a commitment to quality teaching and learning and a number of academic programs of distinction.

Ohio Dominican University is a private Catholic liberal arts university, guided in its educational mission by the Dominican motto, taken from the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas, "Contemplare et contemplata aliis tradere," which means, "To contemplate and to share with others the fruits of this contemplation." Today, embracing the Dominican ideals of "Veritas," or Truth, the University holds to a slightly modified motto, "To contemplate truth and to share with others the fruits of this contemplation."
Founded in 1911 as the College of Saint Mary of the Springs, Ohio Dominican offers a fully accredited, career-oriented education. The Ohio Dominican University liberal arts curriculum teaches skills valuable in every career and life - the ability to think critically, write proficiently, and communicate clearly. The University's liberal arts core curriculum is at the center of every student's academic study at Ohio Dominican.[1]
The University is significantly expanding the level of on-campus student extracurricular activities and improving residential life. At the same time, Ohio Dominican has expanded its extracurricular offerings, providing a greater number of on-campus activities for residential students. A central focus has been the expansion of athletic programs, which attract student athletes and non-athletes alike, foster alumni participation, and enhance fundraising.
Student organizations & activities at ODU offer events and activities that relate to areas of academic interest, student government, performance, multicultural, media, athletic, social, honorary, religious and service organizations. Ohio Dominican student activities and events are open to all students.
Ohio Dominican is member of the NCAA Division II and competes within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).[2] ODU joined the GLIAC in 2010 as part of the transition to NCAA Division II from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).[3] The university offers 14 varsity sports including: men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, cheerleading, men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men's and womens's track and field, and women’s volleyball.
